Air India has launched a new feature in its mobile app, ‘AEYE Vision,’ that allows passengers to track their checked-in baggage by scanning their baggage tags.
This AI-based tool aims to address recent complaints related to baggage handling by providing real-time updates on flight details, boarding passes, baggage status, and meal options.
Air passenger can now monitor their baggage
Powered by advanced computer vision technology, AEYE Vision enables passengers to monitor the status of their bags, including when they are loaded, unloaded, and ready for pick-up at baggage claim.
The airline also plans to introduce additional features in the app, such as baggage dimension checks, passport scanning, image-based destination searches, and augmented reality destination details in the near future.
Satya Ramaswamy, Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Air India, highlighted the potential of modern computer vision technologies, which use artificial neural networks to recognise objects and patterns with high accuracy, potentially simplifying data entry on mobile devices.
“Modern-day computer vision technologies based on artificial neural networks have the power to recognise objects and patterns with a degree of accuracy matching or exceeding human perception. This has the potential to eliminate cumbersome data entry from input constrained devices such as the mobile phone,” Ramaswamy said.
