Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu took it to micro-blogging website, X, to highlight the success of the DigiYatra initiative, launched on December 1, 2022, to enhance air travel in India. Naidu said that in the past two years the digital platform has transformed the passenger experience, with more than 80 lakh users and over 4 crore successful journeys completed across 24 airports in the country.
“Since its inception on December 1, 2022, #DigiYatra has transformed air travel with more than 80 lakh users, 4 crore successful journeys, and operations spanning 24 airports. The initiative remains focused on delivering a seamless and contactless experience for travelers across the country,” Naidu said on X.
What is DigiYatra app?
DigiYatra aims to provide a seamless, paperless, and contactless travel experience by using biometric technology to streamline airport procedures. The initiative has significantly reduced waiting times at various touchpoints such as check-in, security checks, and boarding, making air travel more efficient and passenger-friendly.
Naidu emphasised that DigiYatra continues to expand its reach, with more airports set to adopt the system in the coming months. The initiative not only contributes to improving passenger convenience but also aligns with the government’s vision of digitizing India’s aviation sector for greater safety and operational efficiency.
DigiYatra App Enrolment Process
To enroll in the DigiYatra app, follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Download the DigiYatra App from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) and register using your mobile number. An OTP will be sent for verification.
Step 2: Link your identity credentials through DigiLocker or Aadhaar. You will be asked to verify your Aadhaar using an OTP. (Note: Linking COWIN details is optional.)
Step 3: When prompted, take a clear selfie and upload it to the app. Ensure your picture is clear and unobstructed.
Step 4: Update your boarding pass on the DigiYatra app and share it with the departure airport. Make sure the name on your boarding pass, flight ticket, and Aadhaar match.
