AirAsia continues to expand its connectivity between India and Malaysia. The airline on Wednesday (May 29) resumed its flight operations from Bhubaneswar to Kuala Lumpur. According to the statement issued by the airline, the inaugural flight, carrying a full passenger load, departed from Biju Patnaik Airport at 12:50 PM and arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) at 7:05 AM local time.

“Guests onboard flight AK30 were given a warm reception upon arrival by representatives from Tourism Malaysia, AirAsia’s Senior Management and a host of Allstars who handed out exclusive goodie bags to the delighted travellers,” AirAsia said in a statement.

Direct flights to Kuala Lumpur

Air passengers must note that the airline is offering direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Bhubaneswar three times a week. This is in addition to its other direct flights to Indian destinations including Chennai, Jaipur, New Delhi, and Ahmedabad.

This initiative highlights the airlines’ dedication to enhancing travel and cultural exchange between India and Malaysia, thereby strengthening tourism and business relationships between the two nations. As AirAsia expands its presence, travelers can anticipate more convenient and frequent flight options.

Average air ticket prices spike 9% in Jan-March period

Average air ticket prices in India surged by 9 percent in the first quarter of 2024, driven by a general increase in travel demand and significantly stronger economic growth, according to Australian Securities Exchange-listed FCM Travel.

Additionally, FCM Travel reported a 20 percent increase in premium class bookings during the January-March period compared to the same timeframe last year, primarily driven by sectors such as manufacturing, IT, and conglomerates.

“Domestic air capacity has increased more than 3 per cent but due to the demand in travel, we have seen average ticket prices increase by 9 per cent which is attributed to a much stronger economic growth and a general increase in demand for travel,” said Sunny Sodhi, Managing Director of FCM Travel India.
