Air India is set to roll out in-flight Wi-Fi, beginning with its A350 aircraft on the Delhi-London Heathrow route. The Tata Group-owned airline has recently launched daily services between Delhi and London Heathrow using the A350-900, which will operate twice daily.

The A350 features 28 private suites with fully flat beds in business class, 24 premium economy seats, and 264 economy seats.

As part of its ongoing transformation, Air India will soon offer Wi-Fi on these flights. Earlier this year, the airline began incorporating A350s into its fleet.

A350-900 to replace 777 and dreamliner

The A350-900 will replace Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on 14 of the 17 weekly flights, adding an extra 336 seats to the route each week.

With the introduction of the new aircraft, Air India will upgrade 90 percent of its flights to London Heathrow. Recently, the airline also began using leased Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with enhanced cabin interiors on the Mumbai-London Heathrow route.

Air India’s A350 flights will showcase newly introduced amenities and upgrades revealed earlier this year. These enhancements include new chinaware, tableware, and glassware, along with updated bedding and amenity kits for Business and Premium Economy passengers.

Air India’s massive plane orders

Air India’s substantial order of 470 aircraft—250 from Airbus and 220 from Boeing—is central to the airline’s goals for capacity and network growth, as well as its ambition to deliver a world-class travel experience. This includes 40 A350s and 210 A320neo narrow-body aircraft from Airbus.

In December, the carrier began receiving its long-range A350 aircraft. Out of the 40 A350s ordered in 2023, six have already been added to its fleet. In a standard three-class layout, the A350-900 can accommodate 300-350 passengers and has a range of over 15,000 km, according to Airbus.
