An Air India flight heading from San Francisco to Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing after facing technical issues in midair. The Boeing 777 aircraft was diverted to Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia with 245 people on board — with passengers forced to stay in the city till alternative arrangements could be made.

“AI174 of 02 November, operating from San Francisco to Delhi via Kolkata, made a precautionary landing at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, after the flight crew suspected a technical issue en route. Hotel arrangements have been made for their stay after clearing immigration procedures at the airport while Air India makes alternative arrangements to fly them to their destination Delhi at the earliest,” the airline said in a statement.

Souces told PTI that there had been 245 people in the plane — including 228 passengers and 17 crew members.

Delhi-Bengaluru Air India flight diverted after technical snag

A domestic Air India flight from Delhi to Bengaluru also faced technical snags on Monday — forced to make an emergency landing in Bhopal. The A320 Neo plane made a safe landing under emergency conditions at the Raja Bhoj Airport on Monday night. Airport officials said it had been diverted after a warning was reported in the cargo hold.

“Following standard safety procedures, a full emergency was declared at 1933 IST. A few minutes later, the crew confirmed that the warning had cleared and all aircraft systems were normal. The flight landed safely at 2000 IST with 172 persons on board. All operations are normal,” the official told PTI.
