Maruti Wagon R has scored the highest in the small car segment followed closely by Maruti Swift, according to the CNBC Awaaz Auto Satisfaction Index. Maruti Alto and Maruti 800 emerge as joint third.

In the fray were Hyundai Santro and Tata Indica V2 as well. Tata Indica beat both Maturi Swift and Hyundai Santro in the driving pleasure parameter. Indica, however, fared badly on the purchase experience and vehicle appeal fronts.

In the medium size segment, while vehicle performance remains an important factor, maintenance and running cost matter more to owners. Recurring maintenance and running costs have effects on the overall performance of the car.

In the large car segment, the index justifies the reason for which people buy them, with vehicle appeal having the largest impact. Performance also matters for large car owners.
