The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam earned Rs 1,721.22 crore revenue upto October during the current fiscal.

The nigam had earned Rs 1,436.41 crore from April to October last year. Thus, the revenue earned was Rs 284.81 crore i.e. almost 20% more during the first seven months of this financial year as compared to the corresponding months of last year.

A spokesman said since its formation, the nigam had earned revenue of over Rs 250 crore for four consecutive months of July, August, September and October, 2010. Earlier, the Nigam had collected the revenue of over Rs 250 crore in December 2009 only.

He said in the history of the nigam, record revenue of Rs 285.04 crore had been earned in the month of October. The revenue collection was highest at Rs 45.87 crore in operation circle Panipat, followed by Rs 44.38 crore in Ambala, Rs 43.97 crore in Sonepat, Rs 31.82 crore in Yamuna Nagar, Rs 30.48 crore in Karnal, Rs 25.35 crore in Jhajjar, Rs 25.10 crore in Rohtak, Rs 17.04 crore in Kurukshetra, Rs 10.71crore in Jind and Rs 10. 32 crore in operation circle Kaithal.

He said collection of record amount of revenue was a result of a special drive launched by the UHBVN officials by adopting three pronged strategy, targeted to reduce aggregated technical and commercial losses considerably. Special efforts were made to collect revenue by launching disconnection campaign, replacement of electro mechanical meters with electronic meters and strengthen power distribution infrastructure so as to reduce technical line losses.

The spokesman said the nigam has already identified the feeders where losses had been much more than the acceptable parameters.
