Taminadu Telecommunication (TTL), a two-way joint venture between Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (Tidsco) and Telecommunications Consultants India (TCIL), is all set to drag Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) on a dispute over awarding optical fibre contract (OFC) to higher bidders.

The board of directors of the company in its latest meeting had reportedly approved the proposal to challenge BSNL?s decision in a Delhi court, sources in the know told FE.

A BSNL source, while confirming the development, said that the row between TTL and the government-run telecom carrier was not about the award of the contract but on some financial grounds. ?I cannot comment more on the issue as the matter may head for courts,? he said. TTL officials were not available for comments.

The Chennai-based cable maker, in a regulatory filing with stock exchanges said that the brass of the company decided to ahead with the litigation and the board of directors would meet to ?to confirm the circular resolution passed authorising the managing director of TTL for filing the writ petition in the Delhi High Court against the APO (purchase order) for 42,000 km issued by BSNL.? BSNL had invited tenders for the supply of 60,000 km of OFC and TTL had emerged as the lowest bidder.
