Satyam Computer Services was in the limelight for all the wrong reasons for the last two days. While the company management has drawn ire for poor governancein announcing to buy Maytas Properties and Maytas Infrastructure and cancelling the proposed deal a day later, the board members who took the decision were the cynosure of all eyes.

Ramalinga Raju, Satyam?s founder and chairman, has developed the Full Life Cycle Leadership (FLCL) model which fosters leaders at all levels in the company. He is an alumnus of Ohio University and the Harvard Business School. He has won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Raju is on the boards of several educational, research, and not-for-profit institutions. He was former chairman of Nasscom, and is a member of the the top committees of CII and Ficci.

Rama Raju also is Satyam?s co-founder. He is the managing director and CEO of the company, and also the chairman of Satyam-Venture Engineering Services. He is involved in the Byrraju Foundation which works for the rural underprivileged.

Ram Mynampati is executive vice president and chief operating officer of Satyam and is responsible for its operations in the verticals of financial services, healthcare, retail & transportation and government. He also looks after the company’s partners like GE and Microsoft. Mynampati is also responsible for Satyam’s expansion into Canada and Latin America.

Vinod K Dham was vice president of Intel?s Microprocessor Products Group and GM of the Pentium Processor division. Dham was also on US President Clinton?s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. He was named as one of the top 100 Asian Americans of the decade in 1999.

Mangalam Srinivasan is another member of the board. She has held positions in University of California at Berkeley, American University in Washington DC, and Harvard University.

Krishna G Palepu, Ross Graham Walker Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School, serves on the board of the company. He is a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Mendu Rammohan Rao, the dean of Indian School of Business (ISB), is on the board of Satyam, and also on the boards of Moschip Semiconductor Technology Ltd, Krishna Fabrications Pvt Ltd, and APIDC Venture Capital.

TR Prasad, is a lifetime fellow of the Institute of Engineers (FIE), and was cabinet secretary to the government of India. He was also member of the 12th Finance Commission. He was also defence secretary, chairman of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB), and the chairman of Maruti Udyog Ltd.

VS Raju, is former director of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He is currently the chairman of the Naval Research Board, Defense Research and Development Organisation. He is also a member on various other committees.
