Royal Bank of Scotland Group has hired two senior persons for the country?s operations. Atal Agarwal has been appointed executive director and head of financial institutions for India, while Amit Dharod has joined the sales team.

Agarwal has over 19 years of banking experience in India, including 14 years in investment banking. He has had experience in domestic and international equity and underwriting. Prior to joining the bank, he served in Citibank for over five years as director and industry head of banks and non-bank financial institutions, Financial Institutions Group. In his new role, he will be based in Mumbai and report to James Pearson, head of financial institutions for Asia Pacific and also to Brijesh Mehra, head of corporate and local client coverage for India.

Dharod is a chartered accountant and has 10 years of work experience in debt bond placements, credit structuring, loan syndication of financing mandates. He was earlier with GE Capital Services India and ICICI Bank, where he managed a similar portfolio. In his new role, he will be a part of the markets team, led by Arun

Khurana, head of markets for India. This new team represents appointments to future global banking and markets positions which will be created by the bank when necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained.
