Punjab Technical University (PTU) this afternoon signed an agreement with The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE) to foster entrepreneurship globally through mentoring, networking, and education.
Dr. Rajneesh Arora, Vice Chancellor PTU and Partap Aggarwal, Chairman, TiE-Chandigarh formally signed the agreement at the UT Guest House.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Arora said that PTU intends to promote entrepreneurship in the region since the country needs more and more job providers than the job seekers, which would be accelerated through a symbiotic relationship with TiE.
TiE had earlier signed an MoU in 2010 with PTU along with STPI to encourage and mentor students for entrepreneurship and the current agreement would help further this mission of revolutionizing the world of entrepreneurship.
Dr Arora said that Punjab and Chandigarh have the potential of becoming the educational hub with excellent institutional infrastructure that could attract international students and contribute to the region?s economy tremendously.
TiE chairman Partap Aggarwal added that TiE is a global organization with 61 chapters around the world, and 16 chapters within India are fostering entrepreneurship amongst the youth.
TiE would assist PTU in upgrading syllabus as per the industry needs and enable students become employable and shall help in setting up of five nodal centres for entrepreneurial development in PTU campuses in Bhatinda, Mohali, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana and Kapurthala.
TiE shall also help develop online interaction through efficient deployment of IT and integrating social media.
Chandra Mohan, former chairman of Punjab Tractors, and entrepreneur stressed the need of more technical graduates to setup their own manufacturing enterprises in the interiors of the state so that more youth can be employed.
Those present on the occasion included Dr. A.P. Singh, Dean RIC, PTU, and TiE?s representatives vice president Ajay Tewari, Alok Ramsisaria, J.B. Singh, Gurmeet Chawla, Sumeer Walia, Manish Trehan, amongst others.
