In a move to deal with the scarcity of quality officers in many of the central public sector enterprises in a liberalised economic environment, the government has decided to liberalise recruitment procedures at middle and higher levels.

The Cabinet on Thursday approved a proposal of the department of Personnel and Training to amend the resolution constituting the Public Enterprises Selection Board by specifying that candidates from state public sector enterprises and from the private sector will be considered non-internal candidates, subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria.

The flexibility in hiring officers from the private sector by the CPSEs would be permitted for five years from the date of notification of the amendment in the PESB resolution, the government said.
