The nominees for the Best Actor (Male) and Best Actor (Female) in the popular categories are just out. These two awards were launched a couple of years ago keeping in mind popular sentiments and is now open for voting. After all it?s the audience whose verdict rules the industry.
For the Best Actor (Male) trophy contenders are Ajay Devgn for his role as a don in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai as well as his comic turn in Golmaal 3; Akshay Kumar for his delightful act as a loser in Housefull; Imran Khan for his lover-boy role in I Hate Luv Storys, Ranbir Kapoor for his convincing portrayal of a conning strategist in Raajneeti; Salman Khan for his over-the-top entertaining performance in the year?s top grosser Dabangg, Shah Rukh Khan for his sensitive portrayal of a man afflicted with Asperger?s syndrome in My Name Is Khan and Shahid Kapur for being the charming conman in Badmaash Company. There is a quite a competition in this segment since all of them have won many hearts with their acting.
The leading ladies are not the ones to lag behind. The year 2010 saw some of them deliver awe-inspiring performances. The ones in the race for the Best Actor (Female) trophy are Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for her ultra glam performance in the sci-fi Robot, Anushka Sharma for her outing as the spunky Janakpuri gal in Band Baaja Baaraat and Deepika Padukone for her loveable girl act in Housefull and the romcom Break Ke Baad. Kareena Kapoor has won the nomination in this category for her irrepressible comic-timing in Golmaal 3 and Katrina Kaif for her powerful performance in Raajneeti and delightful bimbatte act in Tees Maar Khan. Priyanka Chopra too is competing for the trophy with her rich brat character in Anjaana Anjaani and Sonam Kapoor for her dreamy-eyed performance in I Hate Luv Storys.
