After an advisory from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and intelligence agencies that the presence of J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah at the Hazratbal shrine on Eid could trigger protests, the chief minister has dropped the idea of offering Eid prayers at the shrine.

A high-level meeting comprising police and intelligence officials was held in Srinagar, in which officials were asked to review the security scenario in and around the Hazratbal shrine. In the meeting, police officials were asked how to secure the shrine for the CM and his Cabinet colleagues.

Though various plans were discussed to secure the shrine and its premises, many police officials termed the presence of Omar Abdullah there a bit risky given the present situation in the Valley.
