Renowned trainer and global talent development corporation, NIIT has planned to introduce new courses catering to the IT and service industry.
Providing training to about 5 lakh students countrywide at a time, NIIT has turned over 35 lakh students into professionals. And after the success of its GNIIT course, the company will soon introduce new programs in banking, insurance, management and IT.
Talking to FE, Vijay K Thadani, CEO, NIIT said, “We have identified banking, insurance, retail, and executive education as some of the areas for growth. We’ll be launching these programs through our subsidiary? The Institute of Finance, Banking & Insurance, running a few courses in these streams. This institute has already trained about 6,000 students in a year. A new course has been introduced recently in the IT infrastructure management called GlobalNet+. While this segment presents a high potential opportunity, the recent IDC survey has also cautioned the industry about possible shortfall of nearly 1 lakh professionals as against the need for 3,75,000 skilled professionals by 2009.”
