In response to Jharkhand chief minister Shibu Soren?s call for a dialogue with Naxalites, CPI(ML)?s South Chotanagpur Zonal Committee?s secretary Samarji has accused Soren of being untrustworthy because of his frequent change of stance. ?We don?t have trust in him. He has changed his stand many a time in the past. He has cheated the people of this state umpteen times. In the initial phase of his life he had had come up with slogans such as ?beat police, kill landlords and fight to take Jharkhand?. Subsequently he changed,? Samarji said. ?Maoists oppose the parliamentary system and want to establish people?s government?, he added.

Soon after being sworn in as chief minister on Wednesday, Soren had said that his government was in favour of a dialogue with the Maoists to end the Naxalite violence. ?We are ready to meet their genuine demands,? he said.

Samarji, who was speaking to a journalist belonging to a Hindi daily, also put forth seven demands, namely, the lifting of the ban on Maoist outfits, restricting the entry of MNC?s, withdrawing the paramilitary forces stationed in schools to deal with Maoists, containing corruption, releasing villagers being held on charges of being associated with Maoists, and a resettlement and rehabilitation policy with adequate compensation for the displaced.

Meanwhile, the People?s Liberation Front of India, a breakaway faction of the CPI(Maoist), has called for an indefinite bandh from Friday to press for the release of a group of people of Panki block in Palamau who were described by it as Maoists and kept in custody by the police.

In a statement, PLFI?s Palamau Sub Zonal Committee?s Ravindraji said on Thursday, ?If our demand is not met by zero hours on December 31, the indefinite bandh will start from the first day of the new year.?
