Mahindra Ecole Centrale (MEC) is an engineering college set up through a three-way collaboration involving the Mahindra group, Ecole Centrale Paris (a 200-year-old French university) and the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. MEC aims to focus on contemporary and international academic programmes, among other things.

Mahindra will invest R200 crore over the next 5-8 years in MEC, taking its total investment in the project to R400 crore. MEC will focus on offering research-based engineering education with a 32-week mandatory internship. It is in talks with leading MNCs to set up industry-sponsored research laboratories in the areas of energy, urban infrastructure, public transportation, environment, communications, computing and materials?at its campus.

MEC also aims to develop proficient scientific and technical manpower. Sanjay Dhande, founder-director, MEC, said that the MEC pedagogy is structured to build leaders and impart industry-ready higher education. ?MEC?s integrated curriculum will develop students to face global engineering challenges and adapt to new and emerging technologies. The institution is committed to providing world-class infrastructure,? he said.

Situated in Hyderabad, MEC has announced admissions for the integrated dual-degree programme of its inaugural batch that set to commence in August 2014.
