Luminous Power Technologies Pvt Ltd is going to expand its business and focus more on the sales of UPS and batteries and in the eastern part as the sale of inverters is quite good in the region. The company is targeting Rs 1,000 crore business by 2009-10.
According to Sunil Bhalla, the director of the company, the turnover was Rs 425 crore in the last fiscal, a growth of 66% over the year-ago period, and in this fiscal our aim is to touch Rs 700 crore.
“We have three manufacturing units in India and recently we have set up another in China to focus on international business,” he told reporters. The units in India have a capacity of one million units of inverters a year and 0.8 million of batteries. The unit in China has a capacity to manufacture two million UPS a year. “We export to 32 countries now and will be focusing more on the African, Middle East and the Latin American countries at present,” said Bhalla.
In India, the eastern region contributes 10-12% of the total turnover and is expected to go up to 17-18%, he said. The company, which is introducing e-bikes next month priced at Rs 22,000- 28,000, is poised to start a business on renewable energy within the next three months. It will be about providing solutions based on solar, wind and hybrid energy having applications in varoius industries, he said.
On export, Bhalla said it contributes 4% of the total turnover now and is expected to go up to 22-25% by 2009-10 ‘since we are going to focus more on exports.’ Regarding dealers pan-India, he said the company plans to add 5,000 more to the existing 10,000 dealers.
