Despite having emerged the lowest bidder for the first two mega power projects in Uttar Pradesh, Bara and Karchchana, Lanco Infratech?s bid may not be the most suitable of them all.
The Uttar Pradesh government is now ?examining? all the major issues relating to the tariff quoted by the company. According to officials of the Power Corporation, Lanco?s bid at Rs 2.89 was the lowest of all the nine bidders for the two projects, but it is almost 60% more that the Rs 1.91, quoted by the same company for its Anpara C project in Sonebhadra. ?We have to examine whether despite being the lowest bid, is it reasonable and within the acceptable limits or beyond it,? he said.
