The E-Class, since it was launched in India in 1996, has remained the country’s favourite luxury car. This month, Mercedes-Benz will bring the new E-Class to India. From what we have read in global reports, the new E-Class has been made almost as luxurious as the S-Class.
First, the length. The car is called the E-Class LWB (long wheelbase). At over 4,900mm, it’s the longest E-Class ever made. Its wheelbase is over 2,900mm, which translates into a huge rear seating area. It could also get features including reclining rear seats and rear-seat memory function.
Also Watch:
It’ll be powered by both petrol and diesel engines, and the 9G-TRONIC transmission. (9G-TRONIC is a nine-speed automatic transmission found in cars including the GLS and the GLE. Its high efficiency helps to reduce fuel consumption by up to 6.5%). Engines are likely to be 2.0-litre petrol and 3.0-litre diesel.
It will also likely get the 360-degree camera, which provides the driver the visual support when parking and manoeuvring, and in situations of restricted visibility.
The E-Class competes with BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Jaguar XF and Volvo S90.
