In the latest development on power sharing issue between JD (S) and BJP in Karnataka, chief minister HD Kumaraswamy said he is ready to face elections if the BJP continued to stick on its communal strategies.
Kumaraswamy said, ?I was ready to quit. But wanted to sort out certain issues before that.? There are several formalities that has to be followed before he submits resignation to the governor, he said and added “my resignation would have created a constitutional crisis. Hence I chose not to do it and hold talks with BJP,” he said.
He said he wanted to discuss on the issues including controversy surrounding the Datta Peeta row in Chikmagalur district and torching of a bus in which two passengers were charred to death on the Ram Sethu issue.
“I can’t be sure that the BJP will protect the interests of the people in the state. They may rake up several controversial issues,” he said, virtually setting a condition for the BJP that it should assure JDS not to pursue Hindutva.
Launching a scathing attack on the BJP leadership for not giving proper replies when their local leaders leveled allegations and murder charges against him, he said “They (BJP) should also convince me that Bellary unit leaders will be reined in,” he said.
Meanwhile, according to official sources, the chief minister has also convened a meeting, where heads of all government departments have participated. The CM has discussed with the officials to ensure smooth administration at the time when all 18 BJP ministers resigned en masse and staying away from daily official work.
Further sources added that Kuarmaswamy would call for an emergency cabinet meeting on Friday. However it was not clear whether the BJP minister, whose resignation letters are still with the chief minister, would participate or not.
