Johnson & Johnson, a multi-national medical devices, pharmaceutical and consumer packaged goods giant, is planning to set up a manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh.
The investment for the proposed plant is expected to be about R450 crore in different phases. The company is in talks with AP government for allotment of land to make consumer healthcare products, specially baby care range of products.
?Johnson & Johnson is looking to invest about R450 crore for setting up a facility for manufacturing baby products. The company has sought about 60 acres of land, next to the Procter & Gamble plant at Kottur in Mehboobnagar district,? a senior government official said. The company is expected to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Andhra Pradesh government next week, the official added.
?We are unable to comment or provide any additional information at this point in time,? a J&J spokesperson said when contacted by FE. But sources said that the company is looking to expand its range of over-the-counter products across all its categories with aggressive marketing strategies and ramping up distribution network for taking on its rivals.
The multi-national company has been operating in the country for over 65 years with high-quality products. The businesses is spread across consumer, medical devices and diagnostics, pharmaceuticals and vision care.
