Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda on Wednesday visited victims of the Tata Motors chlorine gas leak. Koda, who blamed the management for the mishap, said an FIR would be lodged and those found guilty arrested.

Twenty-four persons, including 10 children, were still undergoing treatment when the CM visited the company?s hospital.

Around 100 persons living near a water filter plant at a Tata Motors? residential colony here fell ill on Tuesday when they were exposed to the gas, which leaked from one of the three cylinders that have been lying there for the last 10 years.

?There is no need for an inquiry committee to probe the incident,? said the chief minister. He said the fact that three chlorine-filled cylinders had been lying at the spot for so many years proved ?negligence? on the part of the company.

Tata Motors? Jamshedpur plant head, SB Borwankar, who accompanied the chief minister, said the company had stopped using the gas at the water treatment plant around 10 years ago and was using a different process nowadays to purify water.

Borwankar said the company was inquiring into the matter and would take action against those it found guilty.

A lady, Damyanti Devi, was, however, admitted to the hospital on Wednesday morning with breathing complaints said to be the result of inhaling the gas.
