Their love for adventure and urge to explore new places has made Israelis one of the most travelled people globally. So, when they emerge as the most satisfied guests after using an Indian accommodation, it talks volumes about the standards achieved by the Indian hospitality industry. This is exactly what has come out from a study by TripAdvisor, one of the world’s largest travel sites.

According to a study, which is based on travellers review about Indian properties, Israeli have emerged as the most satisfied guest, giving Indian accommodations an average review rating of 4.23, in 2013. Irish and American travellers closely follow amongst the nationalities most pleased with Indian properties, giving them an average review rating of 4.25. This compares well considering that global average review rating for properties have hovered around 4.10.

But on the hind side, Italian and Japanese travelers are the least satisfied with accommodations in India. In 2013, travellers from these two countries gave Indian accommodations an average TripAdvisor review rating of 4.00 and 4.02, out of a possible 5 rating. This could make task difficult for the Modi government that is looking strengthening it ties with the country and expecting an increase in the frequency of bilateral visits by both business and leisure travellers.

The satisfaction index developed by TripAdvisor is based on the reviews given by travellers from different nationalities. According to the study, travellers from the India, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and Australia have contributed the most number of reviews on Indian accommodations in the past year. The study shows that in the past year, Indian properties on TripAdvisor have experienced a large uptake in traveller interest from both emerging markets and established markets.

While Israelis may be the most satisfied guest using an Indian accommodation, Singapore has emerged as the fastest growing inbound market for Indian hotels. With traveller interest growing by 48% year-on-year, Singapore is way ahead of others in terms of increased interest from travellers looking at Indian properties.

Emerging markets like Ukraine and China are also showing signs of promise as new inbound markets for India with traveller interest increasing by 43% and 33%, year-on-year, respectively. These top markets with the biggest increase in traveller interest for India based on travellers looking at Indian accommodations are consistent with the top markets researching India as a travel destination on TripAdvisor.

The TripAdvisor study also shows that while Goa, Kerala and Maharashtra are the top three most searched Indian destinations by travelers in the past year, it is accommodations in Rajasthan that commend the highest average TripAdvisor review rating of 4.3.
