Close to SAP?s decision to enter the On Demand space, HP- the world?s largest IT company too is planning to launch the SaaS (Software as Service) model globally, including India.

About $6 billion of the company?s revenue of $110.4 billion comes from the software business. HP currently offers software for management efficiency, quality and automation tools and data centre automation and efficiency.

The company will have focused programme and provide extended services for niche areas like media and entertainment, oil and gas, value added service (VAS) providers, amongst others. HP says there is a huge demand which it is experiencing from the clients and it is not shifting its focus from other areas. HP?s close to 35% of the revenues comes from the Personal Systems Group (PSG includes laptops, handhelds and desktops) business and 25% from the imaging and printing group.

The TSG (Technology Solutions Group that includes HP software, server, storage and services) adds another over 30% of the revenues.

Durgadutt Nedungadi, director, marketing & alliance technology solutions group, HP, told FE, ?Seeing the demand and the competition in the market, we are too looking at the SaaS model and we will launch it soon with targeted products for large as well as mid size enterprises.?

He adds that, ?With our SaaS solution, the SMEs will be able to reduce IT complexity, refocus on business initiatives and shift capital expenditures to operational expenditures.
