Portable speakers are small, compact and clutter free and can enliven a tiresome journey. Ideally, they should be weather prone and easy to operate and should not be expensive either, as it can be risky. Peripherals major Top Notch Infotronix has introduced a battery operated portable speaker, Nitro, that plays music content right off a memory card or USB device or any connected audio source. In essence, it is an an ultra portable speaker-cum-FM radio for use with laptops or MP3-type music players.
Top Notch Infotronix, under its Zebronics brand, is famous for bringing all kinds of speakers, headphones and other peripheral technology to the masses. Their latest offering is in the form of an ultra portable powered speaker for your mobile phone, laptop or your music player.
The Zebronics Nitro stereo system, measuring just 20 x 3.5 x 7 cm connects to cellphone, laptop or MP3 player via a 3.5 mm stereo connector. It is powered by its own rechargeable Li-ion battery pack, and its makers claim it will run for between 90 to 120 minutes on a single charge, without draining your player?s power source or drawing USB power.
Nitro is a stylish looking speaker with a sturdy metallic build and the shape of a bottle. It is largely black in colour with a red design pattern, which gives it an appealing look. The front panel has a grill covering the speaker and the bass. The back panel has a rechargeable battery panel, which is quite stiff, alongside a USB slot, DC IN and line IN.
The power button, headphone and card slot lies on the right panel, meanwhile, volume keys are placed on the top with an FM key. The volume keys also function as FM channel surfing tool. The light indicator adjacent to the sound keys reflects the battery status.
Despite the small size, Nitro delivers clear and substantial sound, enough for a small gathering. To increase the volume, one should keep the volume key pressed. FM is as impressive as the speaker with clear radio transmission. You can also connect Nitro with a mobile phone, MP3 player or a PC through its 3.5 mm connecter, and can attach a headphone and listen to the FM too. You can also play via a pen drive or a SD card without losing on the quality or time. Bass quality is quite good and will take you by surprise.
The only issue with Nitro is the feeble battery, compelling you to rely on plug and charge via USB cable. Overall, it is a brilliant speaker at an attractive price and a perfect companion for your travels. Still, other worthy portables that you can check out are Nokia MD8 or Tech-Com SSD 600.
