The Indian Army has got a novel gift from ex-Army chief General JJ Singh. An online redressal forum named dreamers club for officers and soldiers to express their grievances anonymously. He had commissioned the intranet at the start of his tenure for getting ?close his staff?.
The complaints of the personnel go directly to the army chief, bypassing the so-called protocol of army, who then addresses them. “This is one of the best initiatives by the army, which has had to deal with fratricides and employment problems in recent times,” said an army officer on condition of anonymity.
And the initiative has paid rich dividends. Some time ago a liquor-trading racket within the forces was busted thanks to dreamers club.
The system has also helped start a bus service for soldiers and clerical staff in Delhi and many other personal issues have been resolved as well.
Besides material accomplishment, young officers have had the opportunity to directly express their point of view on particular strategies, with the comfort of anonymity.
?The network caught on like a wild fire once the first few sensible request and suggestions were acted upon. Jawans and officers alike were expressing their thoughts and grievances and were able to de-stress,? the officer added.
