Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Friday said his government would invite Ratan Tata to set up Nano car plant in the state. Tata Motors have decided to pull out of Singur in West Bengal.

?My invitation is open. We are likely to meet sometime next week and then take a decision on the issue,? he said in the backdrop of Rata Tata?s letter thanking him for all the help to set up the Nano car project in the state. When asked to comment on where the government would allot the land for the project he said he would first hold a meeting with Tata and these things could be decided later.

The chief minister said his government had signed 8 MOUs bringing in investment worth Rs 2,000 crore to the state. Agreeing that the power situation was pretty bad in Maharashtra, he said that besides mega power projects, the state government would soon begin work on 7,000 MW coal based projects for which machinery had been ordered from Bhel.
