Power distribution company CESU has strengthened its network in order to provide quality power to consumers.
According to a company spokesperson, one transformer each was installed at Naharkanta (3.15 mega volt amps) and Begunia (1.6 MVA) and as many as 47 power transformers and 242 distribution transformers were upgraded during the fiscal for improvement of the system.
To better voltage, 260 substations were added, while balancing of the load in 1016 locations and phase conversion of an 86.2-km distribution line were carried out. About forty two 11-kv breakers and twenty three 33-kv breakers were installed, 576 earthing points checked and 105.5 km of AB cable installed to check power theft during the period.
CESU has meanwhile adjudged the following primary substations as the best three: Nuapatna (Athagarh), Kalinga ( Cuttack ) and Raghunathpur (Jagathsinghpur).
The company has also awarded its line staff for commendable service: Nanda Mishra (Puri), Bansidhar Tripathy (Kendrapara) and Bipin Bihari Dash ( Bhubaneswar ).
CESU is in the retail power business in nine districts: Cuttack , Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Angul, Nayagarh and Jajpur. It provides electricity to 10.5 lakh consumers covering over 1.01 crore people.
The company has 793 high-tension (HT) and 19 extra-high tension (EHT) consumers. CESU?s monthly average power purchase from Gridco is about 450-470 million units (MU) and bills to consumers an average 280-290 MU.
