With almost 61% of the global printing happening through the internet, and India set to drive the internet boom in a big way in the coming few years, Cartridge World, the world?s largest retailer of printer cartridge refilling services, is expecting bright business prospects in India.

The company, which currently enjoys a miniscule percentage of the Rs 30,000-crore printing industry, plans to popularise the concept of refilling and reusing printer cartridges through a scientific process, without damaging the printer and at a more competitive price.

With internet in schools and colleges being the fastest growth category in internet usage in India – indicating the increasing computerisation of educational institutions, followed by internet access from home computers, the Australian company, which has a presence in 22 cities in the country, feels that it needs to establish its presence not only in all important tier-I and tier-II cities but also tier-III cities.

?Printer cartridges in India are mostly replaced by expensive new original equipment manufacturer (OEM) cartridges or poorly refilled cartridges. While the former option carries with it the assurance of high quality, it is also very expensive, while the second option is poor in quality and is very cheap too. We try to bridge the gap between the two by addressing the value-for-money need of the consumers. Cartridge World addresses this gap by offering to refill a customer?s empty cartridge with quality comparable to a new OEM cartridge at about half the price, resulting in VFM offering,? says Naveen Rakhecha, CEO, South Asia, Cartridge World.

In fact, he also opined that since empty cartridges pose as e-waste risk, the concept of reuse and refilling cartridges is not only good for the pocket but also good for the environment.
