Care Hospital, the country’s fourth largest healthcare provider, has lined up four super multi-speciality hospital projects with an investment of Rs 100 crore.

Care Hospital group’s chief of business development Rajendra Kumar told FE that the projects would come up in Bhubaneswar, Surat, Kochi and Coimbatore. He said while the Aditya Care Hospital in Bhubaneswar would be opened for patients on Monday, the one in Surat would be inagurated next month. The Kochi and Coimbatore units would come up in January and June 2008, respectively.

“The Care Hospital group has decided in principle to go to non-metro cities where there is hardly any modern healthcare facility,” said Kumar. Five more hospitals would be opened in such cities and towns of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Gujurat by 2009.

The multi-speciality hospital in Bhubaneswar will initially have 100 beds. Another 200 beds will be added in the next two years with an additional investment of Rs 50 crore.

The Bhubaneswar centre will be equipped to handle quality cardiac care, including cardiothoracic surgeries and catheterisation procedures. The focus will also be on gastroenterology and laparoscopic surgeries, nephrology, urology, and neurosurgery along with critical care and trauma care facilities.

Chief of operations Dr Veeraprasada and chief of laparoscopic surgery Dr Aditya Tripathy said nearly 20 fulltime professionals will provide quality healthcare in a unique concept of ‘team spirit’, and the entire setup will be networked to support secondary and primary healthcare centres across the state.
