The Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority (AIADA), Jharkhand’s biggest industrial area, has identified 250 acres for its expansion in Baharogora, 85 km from here.
The AIADA has at its disposal the entire Kolhan division comprising three districts–East and West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan for that purpose.
“We have taken up the land issue with the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum,” AIADA managing director Nitin Madan Kulkarni told FE on Friday. Since the land belongs to the government, acquisition would not be a problem, he said.
The land located between NH 6 and the river Subarnarekha, could be developed as an AIADA-owned ‘satellite industrial area’, ideal for industries requiring port services.
Kulkarni said the authority would have to look for land elsewhere, as the entire 3000-acre area under its jurisdiction had been exhausted. The AIADA’s proposal to buy around 1,800 acres (mostly private land) near its Gamharia periphery was still pending with the government.
“We have already surveyed the land and found it suitable for industrial purposes. We have requested the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner to initiate process of transferring it to the AIADA,” said Kulkarni, adding that the AIADA could, if needed, easily acquire another 200 acres around the identified plot.
Kulkarni said the JSEB sub-station, which is already there, would be augmented to meet the demand for power once the deal was finalsed.
Kulkarni has also written to the West Singhbhum deputy commissioner for identification of at least 50-100 acres that the AIADA could acquire near the Chaibasa-Seraikela road.
“Units that use iron ore from Chaibasa for making ingots, pellets, etc can be allotted plots there. That will result in reduction of their transportation costs,” AIADA managing director said.
