Last Friday?s release 3 Idiots has earned around Rs 40 crore at the box office over the weekend, beating Love Aaj Kal, which grossed Rs 28 crore and Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani which made 23.50 crore. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film has, according to Reliance Big Entertainment, grossed Rs 93 crore so far worldwide. Devang Sampat, vice-president, Cinemax India, said, ?This is certainly this year?s biggest grosser over the weekend so far and occupancies are at 100%. The film released with over 1,500 prints in India, is also reported to be the year?s highest paid preview grosser, contributing a total of Rs 2.75 crore, after UTV?s Kurban garnered around Rs 1 crore.
