Mumbai-based My Dollarstore, which sells imported products for Rs 99 in India, has witnessed changes at the top management level. Ajoy Krishnamurthy, chief operating officer, has recently resigned and his position has been filled by Soumitra Ghatak who had been working as vice-president – broadband and landline business, Airtel. Currently, Sankalp Retail Value Stores Pvt Ltd franchises My Dollarstore in India from the California-based My Dollarstore Inc. According to Ghatak, ?There is a tremendous opportunity and demand for retailing imported beauty and cosmetics products, food products and accessories in India at Rs 99, as spending levels of customers from the middle income segment is increasing tremendously.?
Outlining his organisation?s future plans, Ghatak said, ?We are planning to start a new line for general merchandise, branded pharma products, branded cookware, tableware and home accessories, which we are considering importing from the US and Europe. This will help increase the number of footfalls at our stores, and thus the volume sales.?
My Dollarstore, with 46 stores across India, retails imported personal hygiene products, Mars, Pringles, etc.
