personal information
Shreyas Iyer is a stylish batsman for India. He is known for the attitude that he maintains at the crease. As settled and cool-headed as Iyer is, he assaults the opposition in a fine way. He debuted in a T20I in 2017 against New Zealand, and soon became a reliable middle-order option for both formats: ODI and T20I. Iyer’s critical part is anchoring the innings coupled with accelerating at the need of the moment; it was seen at its best when India found itself in dire straits. He has virtually done it all in ODIs, nearly matching the decorated role at No. 4 in the line-up, putting up quite a few performances that brought matches into India’s folds, given with maturity and skill.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he started his career when he was signed by Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2015. He rapidly climbed through the ranks and eventually became captain in 2018, effectively taking his team to their very first IPL final in 2020. Iyer also led Kolkata Knight Riders to victory in 2024 season and now he is leading Punjab Kings in 2025.
