US shooting: In an early morning shootout on Sunday in an Ohio nightclub left one dead and 15 others injured – the shooting happened in Cincinnati, the local media reported. According to reports, tt least two people opened fire inside crowded Cameo Night Club leaving several people wounded in the shooting which occurred at around 1:30 am in what authorities described as a chaotic scene. Victims have been rushed from the Cameo Club on Kellogg Avenue on the east side of the city to local hospitals and fire stations after the shooting spree.

The reason behind what prompted the shooting is not clear yet and the cops are interviewing multiple witnesses to the shooting. Nobody has been taken into custody, Sergeant Eric Franz told ABC News, describing the aftermath as a “large and complicated homicide scene.” However, the Cincinnati police have clearly said that so far there were no indications that fatal Ohio nightclub shooting was “terrorism related”.  According to Capt Kim Williams, the biggest problem when there is a large crowd like this and the shots ring out, a lot of the witnesses disappear. The investigators are checking to see if surveillance cameras were working, she said.

It is the second incident within one year. On June 12, 2016, a gay nightclub was targetted by Omar Saddiqui Mateen. The 29-year-old man opened fire inside nightclub Pulse, in Orlando, in which at least 49 people were killed and more than 50 were injured. After the mishap, the then US President Barack Obama, gay-rights groups and parade goers at Gay Pride events called the killings as an affront to the civil liberties of gay people after a string of hard-fought legal successes, including the US Supreme Court’s ruling a year ago that all 50 states must allow same-sex marriage.
