IT major Infosys on Friday announced leadership role changes for two of its top officials ? BG Srinivas and Ashok Vemuri.
Srinivas, at present global head, manufacturing and engineering business, will take over as the new leader of the company?s financial services and insurance vertical. Vemuri, current global head of financial services and insurance business, will take on Srinivas? portfolio, effective April 1, the company said.
Vemuri and Srinivas, who were appointed members of the Infosys board last year, would continue with their existing regional leadership roles for the Americas and Europe. ?This change builds on our successful organisation transformation last year to broaden key leadership experiences at Infosys,? the company said, adding that this change brings cross-industry perspectives to accelerate transformation and innovation for its clients.
Currently, for Infosys, US contributes about 64% while Europe provides 22% to overall revenue.
The IT bellwether is currently undergoing a management transformation, with founder chairman NR Narayana Murthy having exited the company last year. Some top executives like TV Mohandas Pai, too, left the firm in April. New chairman KV Kamath and co-chairman Kris Gopalakrishnan are now having to navigate the company through tough times, with the global macro environment looking increasingly uncertain.
Last year, along with Vemuri and Srinivas, CFO V Balakrishnan was appointed to the company?s board. The three were appointed as additional directors. And for the first time, non-founders outnumbered founders in the board?s internal representation and at present, there are only two founders on the board ? Kris Gopalakrishnan and SD Shibulal ? compared to four earlier. Founder K Dinesh also quit the firm for health reasons last year. The IT firm also inducted Ann Fudge as an additional director of the company. Fudge is a non-executive director at Unilever, Novartis and at General Electric.
Commenting on the interchange of roles, Shibulal, CEO and managing director, Infosys, said, ?We have always focused on giving our leaders a diverse set of experiences over time to fully realise their potential. Vemuri and Srinivas? track record in leading high growth organisations has been superb. This change allows them to leverage cross-industry experience.?
