Haryana is all set to play host to north’s first Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Rohtak with the academic session beginning from July this year.

While the admission process is on, classes for IIM Rohtak will begin from the current academic session 2010-11 with first batch comprising 120 students.

While the campus gets ready at village Garnawati in Rohtak, the classes will commence at a newly constructed block of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) Rohtak. An MoU was signed between MDU and IIM, Rohtak recently for utilisation of physical infrastructure of MDU by the IIM. The location at Garnawati has been selected after considering factors like easy accessibility, development of social and cultural infrastructure.

“Haryana will roll out classes for the new IIM from current academic session due to good logistics support,” said M P Gupta, secretary, technical education Haryana.

The campus of IIM Rohtak will be located over 200 acre and attract an investment of about Rs 250 crore to be funded by the Centre.

The work has already started and the campus is expected to be ready within a year.
