Kashmir conflict and international interference into the matter is set to get wider and larger. Now, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has invited key Kashmiri separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq for a deliberation on Jammu and Kashmir during 71st session of United Nations General Assembly to be held in New York from September 19. Notably, Farooq was arrested after he allegedly tried to defy restrictions and came out to join a separatist-called march in Srinagar. He was also sent to 10-days judicial custody.
This development came in the wake of PM Narendra Modi’s whipping and humiliating Pakistan in the international forum and asking global fraternity to pressurize it on a host of issues, including terrorism and Kashmir.
The UN General Assembly session is likely to see exchange of words between India and Pakistan over the issue of alleged human rights violations in Kashmir and Balochistan.
Recently, President-elect of the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Peter Thomson called on PM Modi in the national capital.
