Xiaomi will launch its highly anticipated Xiaomi 15 series in India on March 2, 2015, it confirmed. The announcement came through Xiaomi India’s social media channels, where they urged fans to “Mark your calendars for March 2nd” and prepare to witness “#TheNextPinnacle” in smartphone technology. The launch event is expected to unveil two flagship models: the Xiaomi 15 and the bigger Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
Xiaomi 15 expected specs and features
Building upon the success of their October release in China, the Indian variants of the Xiaomi 15 series are anticipated to mirror the top features of their Chinese counterparts.
The upcoming Xiaomi 15 is expected to feature a 6.36-inch LTPO OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution. The phone will pack Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset under the hood supported by 12GB RAM and storage options up to 1TB UFS 4.0. The battery capacity is expected to be 5,500 mAh supporting 90W fast charging.
The Xiaomi 15 is said to come with a Leica-tuned camera setup featuring a 50 MP main sensor, complemented by a 12 MP ultra-wide lens and a 10 MP telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra, on the other hand, is likely to sport a 6.73-inch quad-curved LTPO OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2K resolution. The phone may come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB internal storage. The battery inside could be of 6,100 mAh capacity with 90W fast charging support.
There are talks that it could feature advanced Leica-tuned system including a 50 MP main sensor, a 50 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 200 MP periscope-style telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. Both models are expected to feature a 32 MP front-facing camera, catering to high-quality selfies and video calls.
Design and aesthetic
Recent leaks suggest that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will feature a dual-tone finish with white and black shades on the rear, a large circular camera module, and Xiaomi branding.
Pricing expectations
In China, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra launched at a starting price of CNY 6,499 (approximately Rs 78,000), while the Xiaomi 15’s base model was priced at CNY 4,499 (around Rs 53,000). For the Indian market, reports suggest that the Xiaomi 15 may be priced around Rs 70,000, with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra potentially priced below Rs 100,000.
