Opting for ‘forget password’ days are gone, with the newly launched Apple’s ‘Password’ manager app at Apple WWDC 20204.
Apple introduced the ‘Passwords’ app, which lets you navigate your password collection more easily.
Password Manager: Manage your passwords like a pro!
Now you can quickly log into various websites and devices, generate complex passwords, and store them in a secure manager app. Apple’s ‘Password’ app will also let you import passwords from third-party services.
For example, you can store your Wi-Fi password now (not available earlier) in your phone. Also the data will be stored in iCloud Passwords. Now you will get an extra layer of security along with verification codes. It looks like with the newly designed ‘Password’ menu you can get an organised view of your passwords. No mixing up of passwords and wasting time to search them.
Experts suggest that Apple’s ‘Passwords’ manager app has the potential to be positioned to compete with popular password-managing apps such as 1Password, LastPass and Bitwarden.
Towards a safe ‘password sharing’!
With the new ‘passwords’ manager, you can share your passwords with your close ones, without risking your safety. Powered by iCloud Keychain, ‘passwords’ manager allows you to sync and save passwords across multiple devices. So, no need for hunting passwords, everytime you log in to different devices.
Other features include the ability to list out user logins and categorise them based on types of services (i.e., banking, streaming services, social media, etc.), the ability to replace manual password input with Face ID and Touch ID and autofill when credentials are requested.
“The Passwords app is free to download, available across iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and MacOS 15, and will also work with the Vision Pro and Windows computers,” Apple added further. With ‘data breaches’ still looming around, time can only find out the safest passwords manager ahead.
