Tesla’s Cybertruck Programme head Siddhant Awasthi has just announced in a LinkedIn post that he is leaving the company. Siddhant Awasthi has worked at Tesla for more than 8 years. The announcement from Siddhant will be a major shock for Tesla since it’s CyberTruck is facing slower sales and increasing vehicle recalls. Thus, the exit decision form Siddhant Awasthi coud not have come at a worse time as Tesla’s third-quarter profit also dropped 37% year-on-year to $1.4 billion, marking its fourth straight quarterly decline.

What are Siddhant’s educational qualifications?

Siddhant Awasthi is a Engineer who is from Bengaluru. He completed his schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya and post which Siddhant earned a degree in Engineering from Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering. Upon completing his Bachelors he moved to the US for his Masters at the University of Cincinnati.

How did Siddhant’s Tesla journey start?

The journey at Tesla started for Siddhant Awasthi as an Intern the slowly went on to head the Cybertruck Division. “Eight years ago, when I started as an intern, I never dreamed I’d one day have the opportunity to lead the Cybertruck program and bring it to reality,” Awasthi wrote in a LinkedIn post.

What all did Siddhant achieve at Tesla?

He had worked across various sectors in Tesla, including on the Model 3, developing the Shanghai Gigafactory, and then delivering the Cybertruck. “I recently made one of the hardest decisions of my life to leave Tesla after an incredible run. It’s tough to sum up eight years in just a few lines, but what a thrilling journey it’s been: ramping up Model 3, working on Giga Shanghai, developing new electronics and wireless architectures, and delivering the once-in-a-lifetime Cybertruck—all before hitting 30.” He mentioned in the LinkedIn post.

Siddhant thanked Tesla CEO Elon Musk for his leadership and guidance. He wrote “I want to extend a huge thanks to Elon, all Tesla leaders (past and present), mentors, and our amazing customers (huge shoutout!) who’ve fuelled my drive and kept me pushing forward through it all.”

Reflecting on resignation?

Siddhant in his LinkedIn post said that “This decision wasn’t easy, especially with so much exciting growth on the horizon. Tesla vehicles are incredibly complex systems that often don’t get the credit they deserve, but I’ve witnessed firsthand how they’ve changed lives—for our customers, my friends, and my family—adding real value and, above all, improving safety,” he said.
