Life can’t be decluttered ‘automatically’ but what if you could declutter your ‘unread messages’  in Whatsapp? News comes in WhatsApp is working on a feature which will make it easy for you to clear the unread message count.

The new update is an option that will automatically clear your unread message count whenever the app is opened. The company seems to be working on enabling users to manage notifications for new messages.

How to ‘declutter’?

Reports from WABetaInfo explains that this update was discovered in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.11.13 available on the Google Play Store. The new feature aims to help you manage your incoming messages like a pro. It will allow the resetting of the notification count each time you open your Whatsapp.

WABetaInfo shared a screenshot that highlighted that the new feature can allow you  with an option to clear unread message counts automatically. This means that each time you open WhatsApp, any existing unread message notifications will be reset to zero.

The primary goal of this feature is to reduce the visual clutter and the psychological burden of having numerous unread messages, thereby allowing users to focus on new and important communications.

From what it is understood, by enabling this option, you can start fresh with each app launch, free from the long list of unread message counts.

This feature can be helpful for those who receive a high volume of messages. We have often faced  a wave of messages in every family or college group. From ‘notes’ to ‘invitation card’, now you can prioritise your ‘star messages’ with the upcoming feature. You will be able to manage conversations efficiently, especially in ‘hyperactive’ groups!

Earlier WhatsApp had started rolling out the Chat Filters option which had helped users to split the chats into All, Unread and Groups. Reportedly, the new feature is still under development.
