Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 “Ultra” has been revealed in new renders, giving a glimpse of the tech giant’s latest wearable. The images, shared by OnLeaks and Smartprix, showcase a bold new design that follows the Classic series’ metal construction but introduces a more rugged aesthetic reminiscent of the Apple Watch Ultra.
The most notable change is the shift towards a square-shaped case, although the watch maintains a round screen encased by a raised bezel. The functionality of this bezel—whether it will offer touch-sensitive or rotational controls—remains unclear from the images. The Watch 7 Ultra also appears significantly bulkier, supporting previous rumours that Samsung is developing a larger “Pro” variant.
Enhancements in functionality are evident in the design. The new model includes a third button, speculated to be similar to Apple Watch Ultra’s Action Button, offering users quick access to specific features. Additionally, the Watch 7 Ultra is expected to incorporate an advanced health sensor array, potentially providing more accurate health and fitness tracking capabilities.
Audio improvements are hinted at with larger speaker grilles, which may enhance sound quality and volume. The presence of additional holes suggests the inclusion of more microphones, likely to improve the clarity of calls when using the speakerphone function.
Rumours of a square Samsung smartwatch initially surfaced in March, but these renders confirm that while the case has adopted a more rectangular form, the display remains round. This design choice merges the traditional watch face with a modern, robust frame, potentially appealing to users seeking both style and durability.
The Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra is expected to launch at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event in Paris on July 10. It will be joined by the company’s sixth-generation foldables—Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6—and its maiden smart ring—Galaxy Ring.
