Mehdi Paryavi, CEO of the International Data Center Authority, which advises companies and governments on building the data centers that power AI, it may also be quietly eroding workers’ confidence in their job skills.

Mehdi Paryavi told Buisness Insider that excessive and poorly designed AI use in workplaces is driving what he called a “quiet cognitive erosion” and “down-skilling.”

Faster Work but Weaker Skills?

AI tools are designed to save time. They can write, summarize, and analyze information within seconds. However, when people start using AI for every small task, they may stop thinking deeply on their own. Over time, this can weaken important skills like problem-solving, writing, and decision-making.

Experts say that when AI does most of the thinking, workers may feel productive but are not actually learning or improving. This can create a false sense of ability, where the work looks good but the person behind it is not gaining real experience.
