Xiaomi has announced its next phone for India. The company will launch the budget-centric Redmi 13 5G on July 9. Ahead of launch, it has set up dedicated product listing pages on its website and Amazon—presumably its exclusive sale partner—revealing first look at the Redmi 13 5G’s design as well as key hardware specs including processor and camera. The Redmi 13 5G will be a successor to the Redmi 12 5G.
Redmi 13 5G: Design
The Redmi 13 5G’s design seems like a throwback to last year’s Redmi 12 5G. It, too, has a back panel made of unspecified glass. Xiaomi is still calling it “crystal glass” design. The promos feature two colour variants, a shade of pink and blue with the latter having wavy patterns. On the front, Xiaomi is using Corning Gorilla Glass 3. While not explicitly mentioned, the Redmi 13 could come with some degree of entry-level splash resistance.
Redmi 13 5G: Top specs, features
The Redmi 13 5G has the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor as the Redmi 12 5G. It appears to have a single camera on the rear with an 108-megapixel sensor, up from the Redmi 12 5G’s 50-megapixel. The phone is powered by a 5,030 mAh battery (which is slightly bigger than the 5,000 mAh Redmi 12 5G). Charging speed is also getting an update as the Redmi 13 5G supports 33W fast charging. The Redmi 12 5G topped out at 18W.
A big USP feature of the Redmi 13 5G is the software. It will be the first Redmi phone in its class to launch with Xiaomi’s HyperOS.
Xiaomi is keeping details around the display and front camera under the wraps at the time of writing. But the Redmi 12 5G had a 6.79-inch LCD display with a 1080p resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. It had a hole punch cutout at the centre housing an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
The Redmi 12 5G was launched in India at a starting price of Rs 11,999 for a version with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Watch this space for more updates.
