As expected, Nothing is set to launch its next batch of premium wireless earbuds soon. But it won’t call them the Ear 3, as you might expect. Instead, the brand has decided to reset its naming strategy and so, Nothing’s next flagship earbuds won’t be called the Ear 3, but simply the Nothing Ear. Even the first-generation version released in 2021 was called the Ear 1. Joining the Nothing Ear will be another pair of supposedly more affordable Nothing Ear a (not Ear 2a like the Phone 2a).
“2024 is the year we’re unveiling the ultimate iteration of Nothing Audio with two new products that reflect the culmination of three years of design and innovation,” Nothing posted on X, the platform previously known as Twitter.

“With this significant milestone, we’ve reset our naming strategy, stripping back the numbers to centre the focus around the product and the unique experience it delivers for each user,” it added.
The Ear 1 was Nothing’s first product. The brand followed it up with a second-generation model last year. The Ear Stick earbuds were launched in the middle serving as a connecting link, though their design was completely different. The brand also sells audio products under its CMF sub-brand.
Nothing isn’t sharing more details at the time of writing but we can expect more information coming as we fast approach D-day. The brand has been keeping busy lately. Only recently, it forayed into India’s mass market with the Phone 2a, an affordable smartphone that takes on the OnePlus Nord CE 4.
Nothing has also announced a community collaboration initiative where it is asking fans to design their own version of the Phone 2a and also figure out how to sell it through their own marketing style. The Phone 2a community edition is expected to arrive in the market in another six months.
