Bluetooth has come up with a new technology named ‘Bluetooth 6.0’. According to 9to5Mac the Bluetooth SIG (also known as Bluetooth Special Interest Group) explained that this update aims to enhance Apple’s devices tracking feature.
Bluetooth 6.0 aims to provide ‘true distance awareness’, for Apple’s Find My network. Notably, the Find My network is a feature that can help you to find your lost devices.
Decoding Bluetooth 6.0
According to an article published by the Bluetooth SIG, the new technology uses ‘Bluetooth Channel Sounding.’ But what is this and how does it enhance the Find My network? The article explains that ‘Bluetooth Channel Sounding’ can help you to get accurate information and location. It further explained that with Bluetooth 6.0, Find My solutions can be improved on an advanced level. This is because the new update has the ability to provide you centimeter-level accuracy for quite a considerable distance. Moreover, Bluetooth 6.0 technology has the potential to provide the exact distance between your current and the lost devices.
Apple’s Find My network is already based on Bluetooth which makes it a better location tracking device. For example, if your device is lost somewhere with no internet, you can still find your device as it doesn’t depend on internet connection. On top of this the Bluetooth 6.0 can add an extra layer of precision with its ‘Channel Sounding’ feature.
Apple already offers a Precision Finding feature in its Find My application that uses Ultra Wideband technology. This technology can help you to pinpoint the exact location of select accessories. However, as the Ultra Wideband technology does not provide exact precision, Bluetooth Channel Sounding is expected to help improve this loophole.
