It often needs a lot more than courage to let go of a comfortable job and chase what one genuinely seeks in life. For Vanathi S., who is now an influencer, it took a lot more courage to go after what she wanted to do instead of being stuck in a loop, chasing deadlines and dealing with endless meetings. As a senior software professional at Oracle, Vanathi walked away from a highly lucrative, decade-long career in tech, stating she was “bored” with the corporate routine of endless meetings and coding cycles.

Vanathi, who held the senior title of Principal Member of Technical Staff at Oracle, resigned from her position and left behind an annual salary of approximately Rs 30 lakh. She has now embraced a new path as a full-time travel content creator.

Oracle engineer let go of Rs 30 LPA job for a “perfect life”

Vanathi shared her decision on a social media post, explaining everything about an entire decade spent climbing the corporate ladder and checking off all the traditional markers of success – securing a stable job, supporting her family, saving money, and building a home. However, despite achieving this stability, she found herself deeply unsatisfied and disconnected from her own happiness.

“Repeating the same work patterns, like back-to-back meetings, sprint after sprint, and writing similar lines of code began to feel like an endless loop,” Vanathi explained.

For years, she maintained a stressful double life, dedicating her weekdays to the demanding 9-to-5 role and her weekends to her true passion – travelling, trekking, filming, and editing content for social media. This constant hustle eventually led to both mental and physical exhaustion, prompting her to make the dramatic life change last year.

Engineer chose passion over predictability

While Vanathi admitted that resigning from a stable, high-paying job was a decision marked by mixed emotions — relief, fear, and a strange calm — she concluded it was necessary to reclaim her time and energy. Her commitment to her new career is evident on platforms like Instagram, where she has collected over 1.6 lakh followers as a travel content creator.

Acknowledging the uncertainty of her new venture, Vanathi stated her priorities are clear. “Jobs and titles can be rebuilt later, but the time, enthusiasm and freedom to explore the world cannot be recovered once lost,” she wrote.
