n a major move for Aadhaar users, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is developing a comprehensive mobile application that will enable individuals to modify essential personal details like their name, address, date of birth, and more. Tentatively named E-Aadhaar, the app is still in the works and is designed to offer a streamlined, user-friendly solution for updating Aadhaar information through a single digital interface.
About Aadhaar mobile application:
A new Aadhaar mobile application is set to enable users to update key personal details—like their name, residential address, and birth date—right from their smartphones. This digital solution aims to minimize the dependency on in-person visits to enrolment centers.
By integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Face ID technology, the app would deliver secure and seamless digital Aadhaar services to users across India.
Beginning in November, Aadhaar users will only need to go to enrolment centers for biometric authentication, including fingerprint and iris scanning. This new move by UIDAI aims to simplify the update process, eliminate the need for extensive paperwork, minimize identity fraud risks, and speed up the entire procedure while making it more convenient for users.
In addition to these features, UIDAI plans to automatically fetch user data from verified government sources. This will include documents such as birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licences, ration cards from the Public Distribution System (PDS), and records from the MNREGA scheme. Furthermore, electricity bill details may also be incorporated to make address verification even more seamless.
About Aadhaar Good Governance Portal:
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) launched the Aadhaar Good Governance Portal, aimed at simplifying the approval process for Aadhaar authentication requests. This platform is designed to enhance the overall efficiency and user-friendliness of Aadhaar-related services. By streamlining the submission and clearance of authentication applications, the portal is expected to improve accessibility and promote greater inclusivity in the Aadhaar system.
